Long Black Coat

You’ve heard the case for the little black dress – functional, stylish, & appropriate in almost every situation. Today, I want to make the case for the long black coat.

I don’t know how anyone in New England (or really anyone in the Northeast with the winter we are having) can survive without having one. While I am not a huge proponent of buying something “just because everyone has one”, there actually is a reason why almost the entire population owns one/should own one. They genuinely do keep you warm as the temperatures drop & the snow piles up higher. You never have to worry about a long black coat clashing with the rest of your outfit, but who really cares if it did?

I bought my Michael Kors jacket featured here the winter of my freshman year of college, and it has been one of the best investment pieces I ever purchased. While I couldn’t find a MK version for this year, I think this NORTH FACE JACKET is the closest comparable option.
