I know I am not the minority here, but I am so so so excited that it’s fall.
I have only had one pumpkin spice latte in my entire life, but I can’t wait to go pumpkin picking. Outdoor living is the best part of summer, but I find it easier to embrace the cool nights and breezy days of September. I don’t do well in the extreme heat that lasted through this month, but I am sure, like every person ever, when it is the middle of yet another winter storm, I will be counting down the moments until spring returns to usher in summer.
I digress. As the temperatures have finally cooled, I have laid out picture-perfect outfits for three special autumn occasions.
BLACK-TIE BALL
My alma mater hosts a scholarship fundraiser at an iconic New York hotel, and I have arduously begun searching for options that are black-tie appropriate. This lace JUMPSUIT makes me want to reconsider wearing dresses ever again; it is simple & statement-making at the same time. I tried on this Cinderella-gone-rogue pair of HEELS at the Miu Miu shop Soho, but I think these glittery PUMPS are even better. The final touch to say “Hey! What’s Up! Hello!” at a fancy affair is this EDIE PARKER CLUTCH. It is rainbow-inspired perfection.
FOOTBALL TAILGATE
I don’t think you need to look any farther than J.Crew for all of your fall activities. This VEST has been at the top of my wish list forever. My beloved pair of RAY-BAN AVIATORS mysteriously disappeared recently. I thought about looking at other shades, but for fall, the classic style seems to match with the most pieces. Similarly, FRYE BOOTS look sharp regardless of the season. Yet, they seem especially suited for this time of year. This simple outfit can be easily jazzed up with team spirit essentials – sweatshirts, buttons, fanny packs, bows, etc.
RAINY DAY
When you don’t have anywhere really important to be, rainy days can be a blessing. On a cold, misty morning, tucking myself into a cozy coffee shop seems ideal. I explained to a co-worker that I often find myself searching for pops of color on these days. This gray TIBI TURTLENECK would pair easily with dark skinny JEANS. I have borrowed my sister’s black HUNTER BOOTS on occasion. If I were to invest in my own, I think I would want a more COLORFUL PAIR. Overall, this comfy combination would be an easy uniform for previously gray moments.
What outfits are you most excited to wear in the fall?
