I pulled a total Leslie Knope today.

I was moderately productive in the library during the morning. Mid-afternoon, I ventured to Shake Shack with some of the team, and, eventually, I returned to start working again. On the way back up, I stopped in the school bookstore to procrastinate a bit/do a little Christmas shopping. Honestly, I could feel myself getting a little stressed about finals, so I decided to just take a breath before returning to my essays. As I was perusing the racks, I saw this BC item.

Maybe I’ve been watching too much Parks & Rec on Netflix recently, but suddenly, this sparkly pin that reminded me of a campaign button was the most STYLESILIKE piece of fan gear available. Surprising no one, I immediately purchased it for three buck as an early Christmas gift… to myself. As I mentioned in this post, it is important to celebrate the achievements of those you care about most, especially family & friends.

However, I think, every once in a while, you gotta be your own #1 fan. Yes, I bought this button simply to pump myself up. I will be wearing it every day until I am done with finals. I am sure someone will be looking at me like I am crazy/weird/dumb, but I honestly don’t care. ICYMI – Leslie Knope is played by legit #GIRLBOSS comedian & BC alum Amy Poehler. Amy is one of my biggest all-around life inspirations. Hopefully, she would approve of my decision. Tomorrow, I encourage you all, especially my readers struggling through /surviving finals, to do one thing to prove you believe in yourself. If you don’t believe in yourself, who will? We should feel proud to say we are motivated both internally by ourselves and externally by others.

As Ms. Knope says poignantly in one particularly memorable Parks & Rec episode,

“I am big enough to admit that I am often inspired by myself.”
