December 11

Today was just a blast.

Granted, I probably should have done a little more studying. I slept in late and spent the morning watching Netflix with one of my close friends. As I left to really start my day, I noticed this sweet little candy cane gram from a girl on my team taped to my door. She is such a sweetheart. I went over to one of the dorms for brunch with Danni, Maureen, and Kristen for our typical meal that we used to eat in Ireland – scrambled eggs with spinach & peppers plus a healthy serving of hand-cut sweet potato fries. As per usual, I was no help in the kitchen, except for uploading a picture to social media. Self-awarness is key! Any time I get to spend laughing with them is time well spent. I just always wish there was more of it.

Tonight, my team celebrated FLIXMAS, a special occasion where we all gather together to celebrate the end of the semester & reveal who our Pollyanna was. It’s our version of a Secret Santa. There was a very festive/hilarious skit (where someone impersonated me by wearing pearl earrings, a fanny pack, and a plethora of J.Crew necklaces), lots of treats, one very moving good-bye video, & plenty of love to go around. I wore a printed turtleneck & sparkly jeweled glasses with “Merry Christmas” inscribed on them – such a classic #STYLESILIKE for the holiday season. Much like my study abroad friends, I find myself constantly wishing there was more time to be with my team.

Finally, I returned to my home, and my roommates & I ended up having a spontaneous dance party. Yes, after sleeping in today, I realize I probably should have gone to bed early to really jumpstart my studying tomorrow. However, I am of the opinion that when I look back on this semester, I will regret missing out on drinking champagne while dancing to Avicii’s “Wake Me Up” with my friends much more than I will about getting to studying for an extra hour or two.

Alas, there is always tomorrow for doing homework when today is for making memories.
