My friends and I were talking about our finances the other day.
The basic train of thought was a comparison of how we spent money. I pointed to my neatly organized wardrobe. This should explain the reference…

Sarah Jessica Parker (as SATC legendary designer collector Carrie Bradshaw) has rarely spoken a greater truth. Now, I love clothes as much as the next blogger but what I really get excited about is snagging stylish looks at a sizable discount.
After having the privilege of meeting with the Boston College alumni who founded thredUP during last spring’s Tech Trek, I have nothing but the most enthusiastic passion in everything this company is doing and will be doing in the near future.
Last semester, I was able to participate in a very unique fashion blogging challenge, sponsored by thredUP. I was given $150 dollars in merchandise credit, and I had to use this money to make five distinctly unique outfits. As you can see below, this challenge was an easy way to prove how you can rework different pieces in your wardrobe in multiple ways. All were shot on the Maynooth campus in Ireland where I studied abroad.
Read on to see which outfits I selected and where I would choose to wear them!
{ Occasion: Class – All Day, Monday-Friday }
{ thredUP Items: Kenzie Dolman Top & 7 For All Mankind Jeans }
Additional Accessories: Dolce Vita Gold Wedge Sandals, Hand-Knit Purple Beret, Ray-Ban Aviators, Vintage Silver Clip-On Earrings, Rainbow Beads, & Chanel Gold Chain Necklace
{ “Gender & Politics” }
{ Party In The Back }
{ Just Reading Up }
I loved this look because it was, above everything else, comfortable. I could easily transition from the classroom to a long day studying in the library, especially with the bell-bottom jeans.
{ Occasion: Business School Presentation }
{ thredUP Items: Banana Republic Pinstriped Pant Suit }
Additional Accessories: Michael Kors Peep Toe Pumps, Carousel Pink Bowler, Penney’s Leather Cuff, Pearl Necklace, & Purple Handbag
{ Lean In, Rock On }
I have had my fair share of class presentations over the past three years of college. I adore this suit because it is a total shake up of the traditional black skirt suit routine I so often fall into. For the winter, I would be ready to throw a brightly colored blazer on top to both make a statement and stay warm.
{ Occasion: Night Out }
{ thredUP Items: American Apparel Blue Tunic, Ann Taylor Leather Vest, & 7 For All Mankind Jeans }
Additional Accessories: Dolce Vita Gold Wedge Sandals, Obey Tie-Dye Hat, Ray-Ban Aviators, Vintage Turquoise Clip-On Earrings, & Chanel Gold Chain Necklace
This was, by far, my favorite look of them all. I found this hat on super sale at Urban Outfitters over the summer, and it has been a really funky addition to my wardrobe. The bell-bottom jeans, as I said before, are easy to move in, so they are ready to go when I am for dinner and drinks out and about. Plus, who can realistically say no to a leather vest…
{ Occasion: Shopping Excursion }
{ thredUP Items: C&C Floor Length Dress & Ann Taylor Leather Vest }
Additional Accessories: Dolce Vita Gold Wedge Sandals, Vintage Handbag, Ann Taylor Loft Rhinestone Bracelet, & J.Crew Gem Necklace
{ Swing Life Away }
This dress has just the right amount of swirl to balance its soft structure. I would advise wearing it for a day of shopping, as a dress is always easy to take on and off in fitting rooms.
{ Occasion: Date Night }
{ thredUP Items: J. Crew Silk Tank Top & J. Crew Jeans }
Additional Accessories: Glittery Ballet Flats, Vintage Handbag, Vintage Gloves, Vintage Silver Clip-On Earrings & J.Crew Multi-Color Gem Necklace
This outfit definitely has a sweet side to it with the romantic silk top and bow adorned flats. It would be perfect for a date to a museum or a recently released movie.
It may be a new year, but this doesn’t necessarily mean that your wardrobe has to be (technically) brand new. I prefer to think of my thredUP offerings as simply “pre-loved” and eager to enter my closet. It is safe to assume they will, equally, be welcomed with open arms.
If you are looking to add to your own closet be sure to check out my handpicked favorites from my thredUP Style Shop that highlights some of my favorite styles on thredUP today.
