I visited the Smithsonian Museum of American History when I was about eight years old. I remember my older brother lightly scolding me for taking so many pictures of the Hope Diamond on my disposable Kodak camera. I couldn’t help it. I had never seen a jewel so bright and bold.
My mother, understanding of my interest in anything with a bit of sparkle since I was born, replied simply, “She can take pictures of whatever she finds the most beautiful here. If that’s what interests her, she can take as many pictures as she likes.”
Thanks for having my back and encouraging me to continue to expand my jewelry collection over the years, Mom. It is not hard understand why myself and others have always been interested in the glitter of diamonds, especially those which are the most well-known in world history.
