First Day of Christmas

It’s the most wonderful time of the year!

I may have borrowed that line from a popular song, but I think it adequately expresses my sentiment. I absolutely love Christmas and every bright moment, cheerful carol, themed movie, well-loved decoration, festive party, and sweet treat leading up to December 25th. I eagerly anticipate the end of Halloween each year because it means I can legitimately start listening to my holiday playlist on Spotify.

Some people call Christmas overdone, but I find genuine joy in celebrating with loved ones in different ways across the 25 days leading up to my favorite holiday. Being a college student means there is always the risk that the magic of the season can be momentarily dimmed by the stress of semester-long essays and final exams. This December, I am going to do everything I can to simply enjoy the season, while also maintaining my day-to-day workload and to-do lists. I hope to, as frequently as possible, document my joys during the 25 Days of Christmas here.

Today, on the 1st Day of Christmas, I enjoyed listening to my favorite carols while working on my computer, after watching “A Muppet Christmas Carol” on Netflix with my roommate, Mike. He also shares my unrequited excitement for Christmas.
