Despite only being a member of the Her Campus Blogger Network for the past two months, I have been able to benefit from this community of engaged and passionate young women in many different ways. Collaborations, caring, and creativity reign supreme in our dialogues and projects. Our sponsor,  Her Campushas distinguished itself among the Internet’s publications as a go-to source of advice on every topic for college women with chapters at an ever-growing number of campuses across the country.

I would advise any girl looking to begin or further her career in PR or marketing to attend the Her Campus National Intercollegiette Conference, hosted in New York City this weekend, July 27th-July 28th.Take a moment to read my reasons below.

[Top 5 Reasons for Attending the Her Campus National Intercollegiette Conference]

★ 1. Network with Industry Leaders and College Students Alike

Cosmopolitan. Teen Vogue. Glamour. Levo League. The Huffington Post. Yes… those names do ring a bell. Learn from the industry’s best professionals with panels such as:

  • Does the Devil Really Wear Prada?: Life As An Entry Level Magazine Editor
  • Jobs in Marketing & PR: How To Break In
  • How to Make Your Start-up a Success: Female Entrepreneurs Share Their Stories
  • A Collegiette’s Guide to Negotiating & Getting What You Want at Work
  • How to Make Your Blog a Powerhouse

The experiences and advice these panelists can share with you is arguably the greatest benefit of attending. I would also encourage any woman taking part in the weekend to network with her peers. My opportunity to network with the women in the HCBN has only offered more inspiration for my own blog. Seek out those who you share common aspirations with, and see if there is a way you can help each other advance your work!

★ 2. Free Goody Bags

★ 3. Complimentary Activities

BCBGenearation sample sale. Free mini manicures. Braid bar. Chipotle gift certificates. I hope I had you at sample sale…

★ 4. Women Helping Women

The documentary, Girl Rising, will be screened at this weekend. This film, as described by the organization’s website, “tells the stories of 9 extraordinary girls from 9 countries…and the power of education to change the world.” Girl Rising and Half the Sky, a women’s rights organization which I serve as a Campus Ambassador for, share a similar mission of raising awareness of not only the issues that need attention but the individuals fighting for change for themselves and all women. I believe earning more about how you can help women around the world empowers you to take charge of your own path now.

★ 5. Location, Location, Location

Well, I believe you never really need a reason to visit New York City. However, the sole fact the event will be held in NYC is reason enough to attend in my books.

Hopefully, one of these five reasons has really sparked your interest! Grab your personalized business cards, pick out your favorite business chic outfit, and register here for the Her Campus National Intercollegiette Conference! Powered by Intel, this is sure to be an outstanding event. Which of those reasons appeals to you most?

Stylishly Yours,
