If you opened my Moleskine today, there would only be one simple note in it. [ Traea’s Birthday! ] Written oh-so-subtly in her own handwriting, I did not need the reminder in my planner. July 15th is a day to celebrate Traea Ames Vaillancourt and everything about her that makes our lives better just by knowing her.

I have only had the privilege of knowing Traea for the past two years of my life. I am told, though, the light she radiates at Boston College has been a trend throughout her entire life. She is one of those special, beautiful people who really lives out the best parts of her character in her day-to-day actions.
Baby Traea aka Baby Nugget
Her athleticism and sportsmanship are exemplified on the BC rugby team she plays for. Her enthusiastic dedication is represented in the care she puts into being a volunteer in Boston public schools. Her determination to make a difference is evident in her careful development of BC Soars, a student organization launched at BC with her friend, Brittany Burke, to offer grammar school children in need the chance to experience college in a way they may have never before. Her philosophical nature combined with her joyful laughter are the most important components of her conversations with friends and family. Her spontaneity leads her to always be involved in some elaborate plan destined to be exciting for anyone who is a part of it. Her genuine compassion and love is prevalent in the way she goes above and beyond for those who expect it and for those who don’t. Her adventurous spirit is realized as she studies abroad and explores South America for six months, hoping to gain a better understanding of the people and culture there.
